About the Author

Jessica D. Thompson was born in Louisville, Kentucky and grew up in the rural countryside of West Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

She currently lives with her husband in a plum-colored house  in an early Utopian community in the Midwest.

Her poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in numerous journals, including Appalachian Heritage, Atlanta Review, Chaffin Journal, Kudzu, Midwest Quarterly, Nerve CowboyThe Sow’s Ear Poetry Review; among others, and in Accents Publishing’s, Bigger Than They Appear Anthology of Very Short Poems and is forthcoming in the anthology:  New Poetry from the Midwest (New American Press).  She was a finalist in Ruminate Magazine’s Janet B. McCabe Poetry Prize (2014) and is the grateful recipient of the Kudzu Poetry Prize (2014) and the James Baker Hall Memorial Prize in Poetry by New Southerner (2013).
